Company History

Our success has come from humble beginnings, steeped in the heritage of coal and iron in the Valleys. This massive human endeavour built a large but close knit community and brought a new economic prosperity to the area. The economy was booming. So in 1912, David Stephens and William George set up a printing company to serve flourishing businesses and Stephens & George was born.

Their determination to provide superior quality, service and value, strengthened by a work ethic and resilience born of their Valleys heritage, served them well. The Company continued to prosper, despite the turbulent changes of the 30's depression and the death of 'Old King Coal'. David Stephens left the company in the 1940’s and William’s son-in-law Maldwyn Evan Jones joined the team to bring some business acumen. He became the majority shareholder and the company was incorporated in 1948. Maldwyn led the team through the 1950's and 60's and passed on his skills and knowledge to his son Gareth who in turn passed it on to his son Andrew L. G. Jones, the current Group Managing Director.
